Le Ginestre Barolo DOCG Sottocastello di Novello 2017 Riserva Case of 6

£576.00

From the classic vintage of 2017 and the prestigious Sottocastello di Novello zone in Novello, this vineyard sits at around 400 metres above sea level with a south to south-easterly exposure, planted in 1999 and 2002 on deep, well-drained limestone soils (4,500 vines/ha), trained on espalier with Guyot pruning. Vinification takes place on the skins with an emerged cap and daily pump-overs, followed by extended post-fermentation maceration to enhance extraction and colour stability; after racking, the wine completes malolactic fermentation in stainless steel before ageing in oak casks for three years, then a further year in bottle prior to release. In the glass it shows a deep, bright ruby red with slight orange hues, offering aromas of violet, vanilla, cinnamon, sweet tobacco and liquorice, with a full-bodied, structured palate, smooth texture, slightly dry profile and a long, spicy finish, promising excellent ageing potential.
