The Burggarten plot wraps around Dernau castle and has deep soils producing a wine with great minerality and ripeness, giving a unique profile that Oliver has named "Charisme". Unusually for the Ahr valley this wine then spends 18 months in a mix of 50% new and 50% second fill American oak. The greater proportion of second fill oak lends a sweet spice charm without the exotic flavours you might find with 100% new American oak. This is very fine grained with refreshing acidity, perfectly in balance with the oak in combination with sweet rhubarb and pomegranate flavours. Only 8 barrels of this wine were produced. Drink 2025-2030+
